Antivirus Review – Which Antivirus Software Should You Use?

see it here

If you’re looking for an easy full-featured antivirus program to protect your devices and online activities, there aren’t a lot of better options than Avast Free Antivirus. Its malware detection rate was among the highest in our tests and it offers other features, such as password management. A file shredder and tune-up utilities are also available. However, the system does eat up memory and may cause slowdowns when scanning large files or running programs.

The paid versions of Avast are a little more expensive, but they provide a few nice features including parental controls and a great browser extension that can help keep your privacy in check. There’s also a good amount of cloud storage which is handy to backup your files and creating an emergency restore point. There’s a wide range of security suites on offer starting with the entry-level Antivirus Plus to the flagship Total Security. There’s also a ransomware protection as well as a sandbox that can be used to test suspicious applications.

Kaspersky’s products are essentially variations of one main program. This is a different approach to other premium antivirus software. The main difference between larger suites is that they offer additional features, like an integrated VPN and a password manager. They also offer support for more devices, with basic subscriptions that provide protection on one computer, and up to five computers at the top end of the spectrum.

Sophos’ AV Home offers a decent level of protection at a reasonable cost, and its latest version performed well in our lab tests. It’s not as feature-rich as some of the competitors, but its stripped-down interface is perfect for new users. If you’re looking to add more functionality then you can extend the home products to cover up to 10 devices.
